A true Ferengi would never question whether profit was moral or
not, and anyway, remember the rule of Acquisition:

#284 Deep down, everyone's a Ferengi.

and, of course:
#162 Even in the worst of times, someone makes a profit.

But Hew-mons, try to hide their natural Ferengi nature, and
so they sometimes need more guidance. So remember that your
short selling and covering have the effect of reducing the
price of an over-priced object at the time you sell, and
increasing the price of an under-priced object at the time
you buy back. For this reason, your actions have the immediate
effect of reducing the losses absorbed by the longs. For
the longer term, it is true that you might drive a stock
price down a little sooner than it would have otherwise been
driven, but this has the effect only of bringing the speculative
bubble to an end earlier. Apparently, Alan Greenspan would
argue that this is a good thing.
