I think it would be better if the government would say out of it. People's relationships are their own business.

Your view of divorce as being immoral is based on your life. You have been lucky. You had parents who had a good relationship, which is a very good start. Not everyone has that.

You've never had the experience of being married to someone, realizing that you had made a terrible mistake in marrying them, and that you would be miserable for the rest of your life if you stayed with them. I've been there.

I didn't just run out the door at the first sign of trouble. I pushed for counseling, went to see multiple therapists in an attempt to find one she didn't believe was completely against her. All to no avail. So I finally left. Now, my ex and I are friends.

I suggest that you walk a mile in some other people's shoes before passing judgement. And I think you have to look at the question of children separately. Not all married people have them. But even for those who do, I wouldn't want the government trying to coerce them into staying married if they don't want to be.

Yes, divorce has negative effects on children and women. But so does being in a loveless marriage. Again, you haven't been there. You wouldn't know.
