The government uses uses the statistics on race and ethnicity to justify programs to supposedly redress their perceived wrongs of hiring etc. Years ago when I told a friend who is third generation Chinese, that he is a member of a visible minority, he laughed. Yes I tend to the Libertarian side of politics as I can't stand governments that reduce my freedom and cause bloated bureacracies.
