JTS might still have a lot of problems, but I don't think the overall performance and quality of their product is one of them

I totally agree with this. JTS is not the slow dinosaur it was called.

The point I was trying to make, albeit, it appears, poorly, was that pointing to just the 'average seek time' is not the rosetta stone of system performance. Manfred was quoting someone, who's qualifications we do not know, who ran benchmarks that are no where documented, and who generalized the entire JTS product line line with a reference to the Jurassic period as the end-all of system performance re JTS. This kind of generalization tees me off and I feel that it is irresponsible. As a JTS shareholder, I want them to receive a fair, and unbiased hearing in the court of public opinion.

RE all 4.3 GB drive must have similar characteristics... I think we need to be sure of that when we either offer, or accept, comparisons... as I also tried to justify.

Ben A. (trying to be fair to all, while holding management's feet to the fire :-) )
