X11R6 X-Server on Linux with 256MB DDR2 memory and 1GHz ARM Cortex A9MP/DC. And anything with a 3-5 second response time for user input is atrocious. Sub 1 second is the typical required response time which all tested x86 systems had no trouble beating even ancient ones.

I just tried a Pentium III laptop with 192MB memory on battery power and it had no trouble with its 15" 1400x1050 LCD screen some 4.8 times the pixels of the ARM one (Compaq Armada E500 P3/700 256KB L2, 192MB PC100 SDRAM, Rage Mobility w/8MB frame buffer, ArchLinux X11 v1.8.1.902, MACH64 driver, 2.6.34 kernel, 256MB swap, 9hr life with all three Li-ion batteries when they were new (80WH each IIRC)).
