That piece was excellent. Linda really put the author of that nonsense rumor down! Goldman Sachs ripped the rumor last night too (the author used excerpts from one of their pieces to support his conclusion - but he excerpted it out of context!). From Goldman yesterday: "While it is conceivable that incremental GSE policy easing might still occur, we have never expected large scale negative equity writedowns, and recent commentary suggesting this might be in the offing strikes us as implausible." The Reuters piece was a joke. It wasn't a trial balloon and it will not happen. Sites that picked it up should retract their stories ...
