I agree with you Elroy.

Building the mosque at GZ is wrong and will do more to harm understanding between muslims and the western world. But legally speaking, if there would be no objection to putting a similar church there, then there should be no legal objection to putting a mosque there.

However, this is an opportunity for unions and union workers to put principles before profit. The US Constitution doesn't guarantee that you can get workers to build the damn thing.

And I would love for a porn shop to open up next door....and a drug paraphernalia shop to open up across the street. Obviously an ideal spot for a gay bar. Maybe get a few hookers to hang out in front as well. And I think it would be important for christians to do some proselytizing in front of the mosque.

If they want to leverage our philosophies that forbid us from restricting them from building this mosque, they get to enjoy our other philosophies that demand that we have freedom of expression as well.

And I agree, when Imam Faisal actively lobbies to have a church and a synagogue built in Mecca, then I'll believe that he is trying to build bridges.
