'That's 3,385,400 folks, counting the Reserve. The largest military in the world, to defend(?) the safest country (from invasion) on Earth.

That's 3.5 million useless government employees, yet NO ONE has the balls to go after them. That doesn't even COUNT all the contractors and military industries and camp followers.'

Big business in and around the DC beltway plus all the towns whose economy revolves around the military. Cut the military budget in half and we slide into depression but come close to balancing the budget again? But if we don't exit soon we get more and more of our vets coming back with all sorts of problems beyond the physical. Read that at least 500k that have come back from these wars have serious psychological problems already and the number will grow the longer we are there. The rate rises exponentially with three or more deployments. $3T cumulative costs now projected over the lifetime from these wars so far no one wants to tackle.
