Simply put, x86 doesn't need a lot of fine tuning to work because of its much higher performance. ARM needs all the help it can get.

You also need to look at the OSs and software running on the 1B gadgets. Its mostly not MSFT and not legacy x86 conversions. With that large of a market stuff is being written specifically for ARM.

As for Q3 time demos on Smartphones, most Smartphones have low res screens, 200x200 to 320x240 for the larger ones.

In general, the resolution of mobile gadgets will be considerably less than the PC market, because the screens are physically much smaller. There is no point in having high resolution on a 3 or 4 " screen. And there is nothing cool about a 17" tablet.
