If GM ceased to exist the long run impact might be positive, since it would free up resources to be used more efficiently.

Also the auto industry doesn't represent 25% of our economy. And GM's 2009 revenue was more like 1% of the economy.

The boxes we have to get outside of, are political favoritism, and the idea of too big to fail.
