Short positions have to be monitored for X-Div and spinoffs. Yeah, that's true, that's a problem with short positions. Not sure how to get around it without complicating things. But that problem applies to one short position as well, so allowing numerous short positions shouldn't change it. We could say you can't short a stock that has a dividend yield above 4% or something.....
