Weekly jobless claims hit nine-month high Unexpected climb is yet another setback for already frail recovery WASHINGTON — New applications for unemployment insurance reached the half-million mark last week for the first time since November, a sign that employers are likely cutting jobs again as the economy slows... The economy must be the focus and should have been the focus before attacking all the other agendas. This will be looked at throughout the campaigns. It was/is a serious mistake on the part of our government. We are deeply in debt for creating short term temporary jobs. That was a mistake and poorly thought out. This must be the focus of campaigns so that going forward better decisions are made and we must send a clear message to politicians that now is not the time for vacations, but instead it is time to get to work.
