The conclusion from such high utilization levels alone is of course quite straightforward. But it must also be contrasted with the broad economic outlook. That part of the equation is not at all clear. Nor do we have any particular history from where we can draw any lessons.

My guess is that the users have deliberately stayed away from capacity buildup because they see 'unusual uncertainty' in the downstream demand.

Buying a Jan11 call option might be a cheaper [and rewarding] way to play such a scenario [assuming the 'peak' camp is totally misguided] than buying the stock outright. Not very different from buyers in general using the Order Book as a hedge.
