Hi Lawrence

"Play money", I realise is a misleading term. This is money I have accumulated over the past decade by investing. I regard it as play money as it has nothing to do with my day to day life. For example, I had some renovation done on my house this year and took out a bank loan to do it.
I find that by regarding this fund as seperate, neither hurting the the losses nor relying the profits helps me to be less emotional, as if I was an employee for a fund investing other peoples money.
I would advise this mental approach to all amateurs.
Normally I spread my interests in 5 to 8 stocks, and hence seldom take a loss, as I can ride out the dips and wait for the right time. My interest in QNTM started at $15 pre split, and my confidence in it has been extremely rewarded, but this time I have over cooked it.

Regards
Alan
