The significant difference that the article ignores is that Republicans want to amend the constitution. (Mainly to over ride controversial court interpretations). On the other hand liberals believe in the dictatorship of the courts where five unelected people who have life time terms can by virtue of some very controversial interpretations impose their will on the rest of us. In my view when the need for change arises, the people and not the court should amend the constitution.

As Judge Scalia has often opined a dead constitution is superior to a living constitution.
