I hope you are right but I think the surprise will be on the downside. Right now there is a big disconnect between wall st and main st. Just by treading water as it has done during the summer is equivalent to a rally when compared to deteriorating economic conditions. Another factor keeping stocks afloat is low interest rates which influences the discount rates in determining the present value of future cash flows (= the value of an asset such as stocks).
