Ok Tench.....I've read that transcript and there is no doubt in my mind that what "Dr Laura" said was very inappropriate and clearly racist from a black point of view... For a person who pretends to be psychologist(she is not) she is very stupid on this matter....she was not rational.... Blacks calling each other nigger is not racist since they know their audience and the reception they will receive...the term, as used in context by them, is used in jest and familiarity.
Ignorant people hear those exchanges and assume it's fair game to use the term in a pejorative way..and they are wrong. I come from Polish extraction and can tell you that "pollack" jokes are used among Poles in a humorous way, but when a non-Polish person tells such jokes Poles do not consider them funny but rather feel the speaker is either ignorant or intentionally trying to insult someone... The guide line is very simple....KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE!!! It has always amazed me how many men don't know when they are being sexist in their conversation...e.g., many women don't want to be told they are sexy when it is a person they don't know very well doing the telling.... This has nothing to do with leftist media, this has to do with life's experiences....so if you're going to tell a "pollack" joke to me you better do it with no malice aforethought..... However I don't think you nor Dr.Laura can understand this.....
