The Softs Pit Review For the week of August 23rd, 2010 "Can't say that I am looking for any major moves this week among the Softs. I do not expect anything earth shattering. And while I remain still friendly towards cotton, coffee and sugar long term, all could experience corrections in an effort to digest recent gains. We kind of saw that last week in cotton as values backed off in light volume, so cotton may very well return to advancing. Sugar has seen more violent style corrections, which also may continue, yet I still think higher prices will prevail. Coffee however makes me uncomfortable. I am suspicious of the move up last week. Seems that origin sellers are getting nervous and delivery is now upon us. As for the respect of corrections, it has shown the ability to hold intra-day drops, typically responding with strength, a violent move lower could feed on itself. So longs might seek to own some downside protection. Cocoa and orange juice however look headed lower. Selling strength in each may be appropriate, but acquiring puts or put spreads on any strength is more appealing for me, but that is my personal preference."
