I don't recall anybody looking at Capex $ versus capacity;
I like to call it capital intensity (capex $ per 300mm capacity).
here is something interesting:
SICAS (300 mm capacity)
Q3 07 322.7
Q4 07 347.5
Q1 08 376.5
Q2 08 422.2
Q3 08 453.5 (96.4%)
Q4 08 451.7
Q1 09 432.8
Q2 09 425.8
Q3 09 454.3
Q4 09 471
Q1 10 483.4
Q2 10 510.8

From Q3 07 to Q3 08 capacity went up by 40! - However looking at billings/bookings they went down during the same time period; on the other hand Q2 10 capacity is only up by 12.6% compared to Q3 08.

There could be a time delay but regardless of this capital intensity per 300mm wafer capacity is experiencing a large up swing.
If you could post monthly or quarterly billings/bookings for this time period Q3 07 trough Q2 10 that would be great.
perhaps a simple ratio might work without ploting Wafer capacity versus capex $
It appears trivial but capital intensity is not a constant and it's high due to a large chunck of technology buys (ASML, copper transition etc.)
TIA
