Carol, Nice Harris link, Harris has been around for quite some time. They do alot of business with the government....... The Harris products focus more on the secure on/off switch for cell-phones, lap-tops, and the like. We would love to see their product line become very sucessful....it would indicate that the consumer is ready to slap down a print to help protect their world. IDX is working with Oracle on the network protection end......which is much more involved than the on/off switch type of thing. Identix has said many times that they will be happy to use the Harris/Lucent type chip for input scaning should the performance and price ever meet IDX's standards. When people see competition like this....or view it as competition...they can get cold feet or a warm heart......much like a glass being half full or half empty. I see more evidence that biometrics is for real and ready to bust loose.......The real worry I have is that biometrics in general will never take off.......I'm not worried about IDX being left in the dust....as I think they are making the moves now to assure that it won't happen. I believe they are very smart. bg ps. I think the negative feelings are bringing about a good balance here.......I love the idea that "every contract IDX wins will be their last"...and that any government contracts are bad....It's kind of funny....considering that this market has just been scratched by everybody......and the government will NEED hundreds of millions of $ worth of biometrics in the next several years......Go figure.
