The Alaska government deposits a portion of the oil revenue (from leases, sale of royalty oil, production taxes, etc) into the Permanent Fund. The fund pays annual dividends (after inflation proofing) based on a multi-year sliding formula of the fund's investment earnings.

More significantly, much of Alaska's state budget is paid directly out of oil revenue.
