Rotten Eggs I come out of lurking at your service, qdog. (My participation switched to lurking to avoid crowding the page with Holden.) 200+ miles around Tenghiz smells like rotten eggs. It smells like rotten eggs even past Aktau, Atarau and Aktiubinsk (Elf-Aquataine). Chevron's big early concern was about explosiveness. (Even their flashlights were intrinsically safe.) The Russians ransomed Chevron pretty hard during the early negotiations to send output through their pipeline. (In fact, during the earliest stages of Chevron's negotiations with the USSR, the Sovs used commodity price charts to insist that the "sulfer" was not a bug, but a feature justifying a higher price! :) In the end, I believe Chevroil established some special plant to get rid of it... you may know. Yes, qdog, if the deposits are the same stuff as Tenghiz, it's got to be the stinkiest place in the world. Didn't stop Chevron, E-A, BP or BG.... I can understand it stopping Wooddy's wife! bye, /k1b0
