They’ve got where they are today –with huge numbers beyond their capacity to feed themselves- because they imported modern form of government. That is a crucial point. For a central government organized them in a society that is an improvement from the tribes they had before. With that, above, numbers skyrocket: • Government increase food production • Sell rights for mining. • Implement cash crops that can exchanged for foreign goods. • Implement a medical system making available cheap drugs • Basic Educate them in the language of the colonial masters To break through to the next stage it is hard because the numbers conspire against them • Give you the numbers in Nigeria: they can feed easily 50 million • Struggle to feed 80 million • Very tough to feed 120 million
