I don't think religion has much to do with it. It's been my observation that people interpret their religion as they please or selectively choose the parts that suites them. If they had no religion, then they'd use nationalism, communism, whateverism to justify doing the same things they are doing today. I've studied the differences between "conservatives" and "liberals" for the past few years to a fair level of scientific objectivity and my conclusion is that conservatism is a form of defect. Whether or not the root of the problem is neurological disability or a psychological disorder, I cannot be sure. There is evidence for either and likely it is a combination of both. The sooner people realize this, the sooner it can be fixed. As to your note regarding Gingrich, again, having given it a fair amount of consideration, I've concluded that although there are patsies and con-artists in every group, Conservatives are only made up of patsies and con artists. The implication of "Gingrich is too smart to be that stupid," is that he is a conman playing to his patsies. I can believe that. ST
