Tickertype, I am just reading the ULBI Annual Report. They show a nice picture of the lithium polymer battery along with the Mitsubishi laptop that it will be used in. They claim that they are producing these batteries on a semi automatic production line at this time. The computer is being offered in Japan in this quarter of 1997. Apparantly the company is able to supply enough batteries for Mitsubishi to come to market. The computer will be brought to market in the U.S. in the first quarter of 1998. ULBI expects their production line to be automatic sometime in the first half of 1998. To quote the company,"a seperate high-volume manufacturing line is almost complete, and is expected to be fully commissioned during fiscal 1998 i.e., the first 6 months of 1998. They name Valence Technology, Lithium Technology, and Battery Engineering as having developed prototype solid-polymer batteries and are constructing commercial-scale manufacturing facilities. The company is also looking to seek strategic relationships and joint ventures with other battery manufacturers, suppliers and customers to accelerate commercialization of its technology and products. I believe producing quality products would be more important than being first, however we all know that whoever is first is going to get the biggest jump in stock price. Regards Webpilot.
