Compaq Computer Corp. is extending its presence in the server market with several storage products.

Snip---
In addition to the servers, Compaq will announce a variety of entry-level and departmental tape and hard disk backup products.
The low-end 4/8 SLR Tape drive will sell for about $500; the 12/24 DAT Tape drive will carry a $1,193 street price. Both models will ship on Monday.
An as-yet-unnamed 18.2GB hard disk drive features hot-plug capabilities and a 1.6-inch form factor and ships with the company's Pre-Failure warranty. It is expected to be priced at $2,726.
Compaq's DLT 15 Cartridge Library, Model 3570, features a dual-channel SCSI-3 controller that supports multiple tape devices from a single PCI slot. It can back up as much as 1 terabyte of data in a matter of hours, officials said. The single-drive 3570 will ship for $18,182, while the dual drive is expected to carry a $28,409 price.
