Palo Alto - Palo Alto is a very extreme school, does not represent the US in any way. The 5 tracks at Palo Alto may have more to do with not having too many kids in the bottom track, and also having some super kids ( previous private school + extensive direct tutoring by qualified teachers and tutors + high motivation + great genetics + great environment for YEARS since birth). The Palo Alto school is not creating most of this value , it just shows up in Palo Alto (Russian math Olympiad kids whose parents move to the US) Sergey Brin (Google) is an example of this - he had a good high school in Maryland, but how much value did it add ? en.wikipedia.org
