Georgia is a bit of a paradox. Atlanta is a thriving city, but it hasn't spread much beyond that. I 'think' Alabama might be ready for a breakthrough. As you say, education matters on all levels, not just the jobs a person can get. Georgia does have things in place they could breakthrough. and TN does. TN has a history of being different from the deep south... check east TN in the civil war, they were not into fighting for the south. Mississippi? I dunno. bless their hearts. I don't know if will help with the breakthrough, but yesterday's front page had two stories of pols on their way to jail. one over bribes having to do with the JeffCo sewer debacle and... forget what the other guy had done. it's not just on the state level, but on city levels that pols have treated things as their lil feifdoms. it's like a buncha lil mafias to break up.
