Your statement isn't clear. A strong majority of all investment would be expected to be outside the US. After all its 80% or so of the world's economy and 95 or more percent of the world's population, and also a lot of the world is playing catchup to the US.

If you mean the vast majority of investment by Americans is outside the US, and has been for the past 10 years, then you would be wrong.

Also you have to consider that we get foreign investment in the US, capital flows aren't one way. Also US investment in foreign countries has a positive return for Americans (if perhaps not in the short run, unless its a very short run investment, really more trading than investment).
