and the experimental revolution is finally reaching social science.

"Finally"? Are they kidding? And what about the American experiment, what about the nazis, the soviets? Over the past few centuries there were plenty of experiments which proved that freedom is productive and creates wealth and prosperity, and redistributionist top down regimes end up in oppression and poverty.

Did people pay attention to all that experimental data? Not really.
