"I don't believe the claims that at, as the clock changes from midnight, December 31, 1999 to 00:01 on January 1, 2000, embedded microchips everywhere will suddenly cease to function. If they did, elevators would stop between floors, the computers in your car would stop running and your car would stop, microwave ovens wouldn't work anymore, etc. etc. etc. These claims I believe are completely absurd. Why would the date even need to be programmed into these chips?"
