Those are very poorly controlled experiments. OTOH the results are so strong that you can take a lesson from the experiments anyway.

But we could say we have experimental results that say the free market is better for the economy than communism, when you get down to more typical actual economic and political decisions, the experimental data ranges from fairly slim, to totally nonexistent. We have to rely more on reasoning and "common sense", but different people have different opinions of what common sense means.

I'm not saying we can't be said to know anything about the economic effects of different policies, just that the experimental evidence is thin, once you get past the extremes that produce such strong results that tiny samples and weak controls at best, can still produce meaningful results.
