His color scheme reminds me of advice by realtors given to people wanting to sell their house. Paint it beige so the buyer can work in almost any furniture.

I agree. Olive green and beige, subdued earth tones, with two-tone taupe vertical stripes on the wall. My first thought was that it looked like an upscale hotel suite with the Presidential seal plopped in the middle of the rug. I thought Clinton's blue rug and GW Bush's yellow sunburst rug were both better, a lift of color that didn't hit you in the eye.
