"...doubts on how effective..."

Agreed, we all have those doubts but they have to do
something and this is a good start.

The positive ads will be offset by the negative articles?

Is that all you read...the negatives? Haven't you noticed
that there have also been many positive articles?

None of us are happy with the stock price but that should
not blind you from looking at both sides; otherwise, you
are just making uneducated and ill-informed guesses as
to Novell's future.

I thought Frankenberg was on the right track and should
have been retained but for some people, he was damned
if he did or if he didn't.

We wanted him to enhance shareholder value and when
he did the stock buyback, we complained he was wasting
the money.

We complained about the WordPerfect and Unix businesses
and when he unloaded those and did a good job of it, we
complained about it.

We wanted him gone and once he was dumped we said
Novell is a goner because of all the management turmoil.

"The big question is: can NOVL regain the leadership..."

VK--What is the matter with your internal workings? NOVL
still has the leadership in networking, remember, IT STILL
HAS IT.

The question is NOT can it REGAIN it but can it keep it
OR can Novell at least keep a big enough chunk of this
market to be a profitable an growing entity.

Negative stories are also coming out about Microsoft and
its new generation of products but you don't seem to think
MSFT is under any threat. It seems to me that all the free
stuff that MSFT is giving away these days should tell you
something.

Netscape is a pissant compared to Novell so Novell should
be just as big a threat to Netscape as vice-versa but you
totally write that off as though it were nonexistant.

The big story today is that Dell is starting a price war on
the server market yet someone mentioned the power of
SUN and some other vendors. It seems like the server
market is the biggest growth opportunity for these kinds
of companies and yet that threat of a price war appears
to have had no effect.

In short, Novell is not a safe investment by any means but
what high-tech company is? Somebody is going to crack
Intel's nut one of these days and Microsoft's is already
under attack and those are the two biggies.

Novell's stock price stinks; that's the only sure thing.

That and the fact that Dole hasn't got a prayer.
