dont confuse drilling wells with production platforms - they are 2 different things.

As for the Y2K issue, the industry just like another, is trying to tackle the issue before it is too late.

What is interesting is, more and more have predicted Y2K will divert most corporate funds from virtually all other spendings on information system, and may be some other capital spending - but not necessary means Y2K companies will boom - as most are now believe corporation will not outsource their tasks as much as initially thought.

Interesting articles on last week's and this week's Barron briefly touched this issue.
