Local broadband initiatives, self-funded: the so-called "craze" in your post. Are these "government"? No. Should they be opposed by entrenched interests who can't better the offer? No. Do they use taxpayer funding? No. Do entrenched interests use taxpayer money? Yes. Do they use that money to defeat local initiatives? Yes.

You're straying from the discredited advocacy you posted.
