Reginald, what you seem to be saying -- if I understand you correctly, which is always a problem -- is that you don't think much of free cash flow analysis. But some of us do, which is why this thread was started.

As for "short term price fluctuations," the problem is that we can never be sure that they are indeed "short term," that once the price of a company's stock "fluctuates down," it will ever "fluctuate up" again. (When was Apple's price high? Ten years ago?) And, for the record, the average old man (in or out of an antique chair) is unlikely to be as "stuffy" about the virtues of long-term thinking as you are, precisely because he doesn't have that much "long term" (i.e., life to live) left. (And that comes straight from the horse's mouth.)
