The best analogy I've heard goes something like this:

The country has a sucking chest wound.... the president is frantically searching(between vacations) for a tiny, expensive & approved bandaid(union made of course) when a Walmart plastic bag and roll of one dollar duct tape would provide immediate relief until more expert help can arrive.

We don't need many more ideas from the smartest dumb man in the country....or is it the dumbest smart man?
