It certainly is a good place. Hawaii was originally populated by people from Cook Islands and since the USA took it over, it has developed spectacularly, complete with motorways, McDonalds, though not many drive by shootings still. New Orleans is murder central in USA. Honolulu is almost down to Japanese rates.

There is something idyllic about Cook Islands compared with Hawaii though each has its attractions. There's a shortage of mod cons here. There are no footpaths for example. The road is a footpath. There are no traffic lights either, but those are not mod cons. They do have a roundabout in the main "city", Avarua, population about 1000.

Cook Islanders, Hawaiians and New Zealanders migrated from Taiwan on an extended vacation. Now the cheeky Chinese are trying to take it over by force if necessary.

We might have to defend it against their violent megalomania.

If they get that, then they'll want to carry on and take over Polynesia including Hawaii. The Japanese tried that 100 years ago and finally had to be nuked into submission.
