I think I am going to quit engineering, get out of stocks, and start buying and selling houses.

Don't let it go to your head. In Dallas in the late 70s/early 80s, the same thing happened. But what goes up must come down. Over the course of a year or two real estate values halved and in some cases, worse. How'd you like to be the buyer of your house when THAT happens (90% on "margin", you know....)
