I have burned books. They are made of wood [as is the Koran] so they generate good heat.

Unless they are particularly valuable, there's no particular reason why they shouldn't be burned to get rid of them.

Sometimes people burn books to make a point, but it's still just some paper and ink burning. No biggie. Though some people would worry about the carbon footprint.
