The system is very badly broken, Carolyn. Voters voted down same-sex marriage. The courts overturned the votes. Voters voted to enforce immigration laws. The courts overturned the votes. Voters overwhelmingly demanded that Congress NOT PASS health care legislation. Congress did so anyway. Voters overwhelmingly demanded that Congress NOT BAILOUT Wall Street. Congress did so anyway. Voters overwhelmingly demanded that Congress NOT BAILOUT Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Congress did so anyway. Voters overwhelmingly demanded that Congress NOT BAILOUT the automotive industry. Congress did so anyway. The system is very badly broken, obviously.
