If you would take a step back, I think you would agree with me that much too much is made of that. It is bad of course but the issue is exaggerated for political effect. I don't know if you can be objective about that, especially if you would see it as a betrayal of your loyalties to Christianity but here it is. When you remove the cultural jargon it comes down as domestic violence and it does happen. It happens everywhere. How many assaults and murders are committed in America against women because someone doesn't accept a relationship. In 2005, 1,181 women were murdered by an intimate partner. That's an average of three women every day. Of all the women murdered in the U.S., about one-third were killed by an intimate partner. Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, women experience about 4.8 million intimate partner-related physical assaults and rapes every year.
