In a few months you will be hard pressed to avoid not buying a 56K. ;-)
It seems all new PCs shipping are going to 56K (pick your flavor), with a few of the low end ones dumping their old 28Ks modems. 56K is here, like it or not. I for one kind of like being able to download @40-50K from time to time. The current 56K modems all transition to the lower V.32 (28K) ITU-T standards when local loop wont support it well, and even lower standards as needed.
