I've always thought of you as the voice of considered reason on most things and haven't changed my opinion. On this particular issue some pretty strong contradictions are surfacing however.

Problem is the things I posted ARE from Islamic sources - ancient and supposedly holy ones!

"Attacks on Christianity have followed a similar program of taking things that are ARE from Christian sources - ancient and supposedly holy ones!

I do see the problem in each case. I'm pretty sure you do to.

Setting that aside for a moment, I can see in the modern world some real cause for criticism. Although I don't have statistics, it seems to me there are some real differences. It is more likely that a female captive will be gang raped by Muslim soldiers in a foreign land (example Afganistan and Iraq) than by American Christian soldiers. This also holds true for single girls caught alone in Muslim countries. The justification rapists use probably falls back on the same texts you provided. Although it seems, American Muslim soldiers are not inclined to that raping behavior. Over all it seems there are less rapes and sexual assaults in Muslim countries where women are seen as under protection of friends and relatives, than in the open society we have here. These issues seem to be more cultural according to region than according to religion. Some Muslim regions are relatively peaceful and prosperous some are not, same with Christian dominated regions.

Rape statistics by country:
# 1 United States: 95,136
# 81 Qatar: 12
