Dumbest story of the day

From the New York Daily News: “Fake IDs get reporters into or served at 13 out of 18 bars.”

Wow.

And with a triple byline, no less.

That’s some investigation.

From the article: “A pair of News reporters – legally old enough to drink – hit 18 bars this weekend and were admitted or served in 13.”

That is some revelation. People old enough to buy drinks are buying drinks in Manhattan. If only this were the 1920s and Prohibition was in effect and this was actually a news story.

But young reporters, learn from this.

If it is a few days before payday, talk your boss into running a see-how-well-I’m-carded story. Should be worth a few rounds of what we call Adult Beverages in West Virginia.

The real story is that shops make fake IDs. Maybe the New York Daily News should have named the place that sold the fake IDs instead of the bars that accepted them.
