Have you asked yourself the same question with regard to the alternative energy sources you favor? Well they are getting cheaper every day. How long do you think fossil fuels will remain economically viable? Last time I checked we were paying much more for gasoline and oil than back in 1970. As for waste, I'd be fine if we shot it into the sun via a rail-gun (powered by a nuke plant.. ;0) I wish it would be so easy. If you could guarantee absolutely no launch failures that would be a possible solution. We have plenty of windmills in my state and I'm still amazed when I see them standing still on a windy day. Sounds like the folks that did the site analysis in your state didn't do their job correctly. My German relatives love their turbines!
