Android is the biggest threat to Apple ands its IPhone..no doubt about it. The Blackberry and Iphone buyers tended to be somewhat different; either messaging or browsing. They could have easily co-existed and done very well. However, this android platform has made it so easy for any company to start shipping very good smartphones; Samsung, htc, and even Sanyo! No worries about software development costs. You can bet they come out cheaper and cheaper. This the first year of the Android surge. It is obviously hitting Rimm at Verizon and other us carriers and will do the same to Iphones...because what made the Iphone so great was the browsing experience...and that advantage is gone. I can see more and more buying Macs even at 3 times the price of other notebooks. That trend is still going strong and will continue to...however, the smartphone dominance won't last much longer and that is what makes Apple stock so difficult to invest in at this point; Without the iphone can't see it growing as in the past. ....and maybe the wireless carriers will end up being the best investments in the end, thanks to android.
