It is my personal belief that we are born into this world in a particular condition tending to animus of one toward another. The higher good is achieved by those who are able to rise above that to a nobler condition, even if momentarily, and I often question whether that nobler condition exists in a pure form in this existence. Having said that, we don't need to look only at the worst cases in history to define what persecution is.

Simply put persecution exists when you are picked on for nothing more than your demographic. And declaring that Mrs Jones lets her kid do it to the Jewish kid will not get you a pass from me.
