Fine less, if you want to water down the definition of the word "persecution," then consider someone who chooses to get a bunch of facial piercings. That person will obviously get a bunch of stares, funny looks, and even some crass remarks or harassment. Would you consider that person to be "persecuted"? Or does that not count because the piercings aren't religious or ethnic in nature? How far do you want to go in watering down real injustice just because you feel guilty over discrimination?
